FrequentlyAskedQuestions

How much Manucha is equivalent to a cup of manuka tea?

Approximately 60 mgs. So two manucha lozenges contains the equivalent of 1 ½ cups of Manuka tea.

Is Manucha safe?

Manucha is freeze dried manuka tea which is a traditional herbal tea that has been consumed by New Zealanders for hundreds of years

Manuka tea is approved by FSANZ which means it is approved for sale in Australia and New Zealand. However there are no formal toxicity studies using test animals, so we recommend not more that 2 cups of manuka tea ( equivalent to 120 mgs of manucha ) per day.

How does Manucha relax my muscles and calm my mind?

Based on our initial findings Manucha activates GABA receptors which can induce a mild sedative effect. These effects are similar to the action of other calming herbs such as chamomile tea.

Can you make a stronger version of Manucha that provides a stronger calming effect?

Yes we can make it a lot stronger however it would not be possible to drive while using it, and it would no longer be based on traditional manuka tea. Therefore we can not put such a product on the market.

What science do you have to support the efficacy of the product?

Our science program is just getting started, however so far we have:

  • Optimised the manuka variety that provides the best relaxant effect when consumed as a herbal tea.
  • Identified the presence of certain anxiolytic flavonoid compounds that have been shown to produce a calming effect in mice.
  • Let research contracts to examine the extract for anti-bacterial and anti-viral activity with results expected by the end of 2022.
  • Examined GABA receptor activating effects of the whole extract
